Professor Emeritus Department Theatre and Speech Communication, Salem University DR. THOMAS JUDE HALLAHAN Dr. Hallahan received his B.S. in Communication Disorders from SUNY Geneseo, his M.A. in Audiology from The Ohio State University, his M.Ed. in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University, and his Sc.D. in Audiology from Boston University. For the past seventeen years, he has been employed as a professor at Salem State University (SSU), teaching courses in communication sciences & disorders, inclusive education, special education policy, and social justice. Additionally, Dr. Hallahan has consulted with the Massachusetts’ Medicaid program (MassHealth) overseeing their prior authorization process for audiology and hearing aid services. Before coming to SSU, Dr. Hallahan taught for four years at Boston University.
He has also been in private audiology practice, served as a public-school speech-pathologist, a special education teacher’s assistant, and a coordinator for a group home for adults with disabilities. However, his greatest accomplishment has been that of parenting his Cambodian born son, Kiric. Dr. Hallahan and his son return to Cambodia often to work with a number of local NGOs working in the area of disabilities and inclusive education.
